It is with heavy hearts that Marina, Lance, Lucas (in spirit), Logan and Layla announce the untimely passing of Larry. He remained positive and jovial throughout his thirteen month cancer journey. The hardest part was being separated from family and friends while having no immune system.
He leaves behind his wife of forty-one years, Marina, his son Lance, son Lucas (predeceased) and the apples of his eye, his granddaughters Logan and Layla. Larry was the beloved son of Louis David and Irene (Kontra) (predeceased), and beloved son-in-law to Ovidio and Marney Vimini (predeceased). He was a much loved brother to Lou (Carolyn) and Les, and brother-in-law to Carlo and Mary. Larry will fondly be remembered by his nieces and nephews as the fun loving Uncle.
Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman and kept busy with the camp on Lake Panache. Very active in his community, he enjoyed being Akela to the West Carleton Cubs/Scouts, Treasurer of the Valley Conservation Club, President of the West Panache Campers’ Association, and helping out anyone and anywhere he could. He made friends easily and kept them for life.
Last year, some wonderful curling friends gave Larry his most cherished possession, his “Cancer Quilt” which was adorned with deer and fall colours. It provided him with immeasurable comfort while going through his treatments.
After graduating from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in 1980 in Electrical Technology, Larry had a very successful 36 year career in hi-tech with Bell Northern Research, Nortel and Flextronics. He started in hardware engineering and became a key contributor in the highly regarded and innovative Desktop Development team, defining and designing Nortel's business telephone handsets and other related equipment. Larry finished his career with Flextronics Design Services, being responsible for product design solutions and manufacture for their hi-tech clients. Larry was extremely successful thanks to his creativity, vision, personal commitment, and his fundamental capability to build relationships based on trust and friendship with his colleagues and customers.
Larry was highly regarded and beloved by the people he touched throughout his work and home lives, leaving him with many lasting friendships, especially Kevin, Sue, Chris and Leslie Johnson, Mike and Linda Bosiljevac, Ray and Sue Cronkwright, Brian and Mary Smith, and his other brother, Francesco Ledda. Larry placed a lot of value on all the friends and family he and Marina enjoyed for decades. His consistent good humour and zest for life and fun made him a great husband, father, brother and friend. He will be missed by all he knew. May his spirit live on forever.
