L. Brown

March 26, 1928 — March 3, 2017

SEABROOK, L. Maxine (nee Brown)

With her family surrounding her, Maxine passed away quietly on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Stillwater Creek Retirement Communities in her 89 th year. She is predeceased by her loving husband Everett (1988), her close sister Ione (1988) and her 2 year old bother Mortimer. Her heart filled with love always extended to her daughter Lynn Joseph, sons Mark (Gail VanDen Hanenberg) and Brett ( Patti Farr) and her loving grandchildren Richard, Tina, James, Mitchell, Danielle, Amber and Paige. Maxine started her career as a book keeper and remained in the financial world becoming the Paymaster at the Ottawa Carleton District School Board where she retired from before moving to the family business that she and Everett built, the Canadian Golf and Country Club. Together with lots of hard work, tenacity and the loving support from family and the golf industry, the Canadian Golf and Country Club opened in 1975. Her personal life also included being with friends Kitty and June, sewing, playing cards, bowling and hosting those frequent and always yummy family dinners. Nothing pleased her more then people coming to visit. On her behalf and the family, we would like to express sincere thank you to the many nurses, PSW's and support staff at Stillwater Creek Retirement Residence for their exceptional and compassionate care over the last several years while she struggled with vascular dementia and pulmonary fibrosis. Knowing she was in good hands was wonderful. Friends are invited to the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, for visitation on Tuesday, March 7 from 6 – 8 pm and Wednesday, March 8 from 10-11:30 am followed by a Memorial Service in the chapel at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (Ontario) and the Queensway Carleton Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
