It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kirk Cecil Smyth. He leaves behind his beloved wife Ruth (Kilrea) and daughter Kerry (Bram van Tol) as well as his pride and joy, his grandchildren Marissa and Mark. He also leaves his two brothers Keith (the late Geraldine) and Kenneth (Frances) along with his two brothers-in-law Wayne Kilrea (Nancy), Byron Kilrea (Neil) whose bond will never end; even with his passing. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Kirk. Predeceased by his parents Edna May Lusk and Holden Cecil Smyth; his sister Kathleen (late Gordon Barnes); brothers Karl and Kemp. After retiring from The Canadian Armed Forces in 1983, which took him overseas to Lahr and Baden Soellingen, Germany, Kirk became involved in the Curling World as a professional Ice Technician. This career took him all over the world and through many World Championships. We would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff for their kindness and care as well as for all the love and support that has been received from Kirk's wonderful family and friends.
