BRAUN, Kenneth Nelson
March 16, 1934 - June 21, 2018
Kenneth Nelson Braun passed away peacefully on June 21, 2018 with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his parents Nelson and Ada, and his brothers Lorne and Earl Braun. He leaves behind his wife Janice (nee Smith), his son Warren (Carol Hill) and his daughter Suzanne McIntyre (Bill). He was the proud grandfather of Juliana, Evan, Liam and Ryan. He is also survived by his brother Harold (Edna) of Waterloo, ON and sister Carolyn (Mel Mills) of Tarpon Springs, Florida. Ken lived a life full of learning, love and dedication to family and community. After growing up in Waterloo, ON, Ken obtained degrees in engineering physics, and applied mathematics, from the University of Toronto. He later obtained a diploma in business from the University of Ottawa. As a young engineer, Ken was privileged to work on the Avro Arrow and later worked for many years with Computing Devices of Canada. Ken brought his family to Kanata, Ontario in 1968, where he later served as President of the Beaverbrook Community Association and as an Alderman for the City of Kanata. He was a charter member of Christ Risen Lutheran Church, and throughout his life Ken enjoyed the outdoors, sports, literature, and spending time with his family. A visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, on Wednesday, June 27 th from 7 -9 pm. A memorial service will be held at Christ Risen Lutheran Church (85 Leacock Drive, Kanata) on Thursday, June 28 th at 11 am.
