Kenneth Lloyd Ashley, 87, peacefully passed on April 10, 2025, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Born in Ottawa to the late Edith McCooey and Frank Ashley on February 17, 1938, he was the youngest sibling of Mabel Wirth, Emma O’Connor, Violet Pavlosky, and Frank Ashley. Left to mourn his loss but remember his devotion and enduring love is his wife of 65 years of marriage, Barbara Carol Ann Ashley (nee Webb). He was a loving son-in-law to Olga and Thomas Webb, founders of Webb’s Motel in Ottawa, and brother-in-law to Tommy Webb and Colleen Grube.
He was a proud father to Jeffrey, Karen (Leduc) and Kimberly Ashley, a kind father-in-law to Claude Leduc and Angie Ashley, a generous and loving “Grandpa” to Davis and Grant Ashley, Lisa and Jason Leduc, grandfather-in-law to Jessica Beaudin, and great grandfather to “the little one” Dakota Leduc. Nieces, nephews, and friends will always remember his generosity, empathy, and warm smile.
Ken's professional journey began as a fireman following in his father's footsteps. He left that role to become co-owner and manager of Webb’s Motel and will be remembered for his kindness and generosity to his employees. When not working, he enjoyed travel and food. He found true relaxation among his family and friends at his winter residence on Hutchinson Island (FL) and a summer cottage on Lake Bernard (QC).
The family deeply values your support during this time.
In keeping with Ken’s wishes, no formal services are planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his honor and remembrance to the Dementia Society of Ottawa.
