It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Justin on Monday, June 10th, 2024 at the age of 53. Cherished son of Stuart and Jane Grant. Loving father of Isla. Survived by his sisters Heather and Jennifer (Mike) and brother Peter (Erin). Predeceased by his son Vimy and sister Joanna. Justin was the dear uncle to Mason, Elizabeth, Aimee, Ben and Liam. He will be greatly missed by his uncles and aunts, as well as many friends he has made through out his life.
Justin grew up in Calgary AB where he was the eldest of five children. He attended the University of Calgary’s Bachelor of Arts, Political Science Program.
In 1995 Justin moved to England and joined the Royal Marines where they referenced him during the graduation ceremony as “a guy so laid back he needs wheels on the back of his head”. From 1997-2009 Justin was a member of the Special Boat Service serving the United Kingdom. He lived in Fortuneswell on the Isle of Portland towards the end of his military service and still has a residence there.
Justin received an honours degree in History from the Open University of England in Milton Keynes and was working on his Masters all while serving the marines.
He moved to Ottawa in 2010 to be close to his son Vimy (2006 - 2020) and where he had his daughter Isla who was the apple of his eye.
A Memorial Gathering will take place at Tubman Funeral Homes Westboro Chapel (403 Richmond Rd) on Thursday June 20th, 2024 from 9:30am to 12pm. Words of remembrance to begin at 10am.
