January 4, 1931-October 27, 2022

Joyce Pedley (nee Flory) passed away peacefully, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side, on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the age of 91.  Loving mother of Lynda Pedley (Glenn MacCrimmon) and Dave Pedley.  Proud grandmother of Matthew and Rachel Pedley and great grandmother of Rowan Moreland.  Survived by her sister Dolores Mueller (late Arnold).  Fondly remembered by her nephew Glenn Mueller (Carrie Hiebert), niece Denise Silzer (Mark).  Predeceased by her parents Eugene and Gertrude Flory of Humboldt, Saskatchewan and nieces Yvonne (Garry) Schatz and Sandra (Tom) Engle.  Joyce will be warmly remembered by the entire Pedley family along with her dear friends Jackie, Bev and Carol.  The family wishes to thank the PSWs, nurses, doctors and entire staff at the Ravines Retirement residence who cared for Joyce with such compassion during the five years that she called the Ravines her home. They also wish to thank the staff in the Emergency department at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus who supported Joyce’s passing with dignity and serenity.

Joyce was a creative soul with a passion for oil painting and pottery. She mastered the art of making beautiful tea pots.  She was a skilled curler who competed at national bonspiels. Joyce was also a dog lover who gave Rieko and Rosie a loving home after she retired from a 25 year career in the Public Service.  Not one to do things half-way, Joyce took up Bridge with a passion after her retirement and played into her late 80s. A great cook, Joyce found joy in feeding friends and family. She will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa (at Roosevelt) on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11:00am. Guests are welcome to gather at 10:45. The Celebration of Life will be followed by a light lunch reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dementia and Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or you are invited to plant a tree in Joyce’s honour.  Condolences, tributes and donations may be made on the “Tributes” page at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com.  This Celebration will be live streamed for friends and family who are unable to attend in person.
