Joy Clegg

September 1, 1928 — September 28, 2016

Green, Joy

A truly strong, one-of-a-kind woman, Joy Green, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital on Wednesday, Sept 28, 2016 at age 88 years. Born under tropical skies, Joy possessed unique old-world grace, charm and mannerisms combined with new world pluck and pragmatism. She could never be accused of being timid or unsure; her greatest characteristics were dignity, stoicism, a calm demeanour and a large capacity for sociability. She was someone who you definitely wanted in your corner. Joy was an outstanding wife, mother and grandmother and faithful lifelong servant of the Anglican Church.

Joy was predeceased by her parents, sister and husband, Rev. Jeep Green, to whom she was married for 59 years. She leaves her children; David (Susan) and Katherine (Bruce), grandchildren; Sebastian, Katie and Laura and the countless friends acquired over a successful and complete life.

Joy and Jeep's marriage was highly devoted - they were a real team. They met at Trinity College, University of Toronto and married in 1952. They spent the 1950's in Anglican ministry in rural Saskatchewan. In the 1960's they moved to Ottawa and ministered at All Saints Church in Westboro. During the 1970's Jeep was Chaplain and a teacher at Ashbury College and Joy did part-time work at Elmwood School. After a rewarding time at Ashbury/Elmwood, they took leadership for several years at the Temple Pastures Retreat Centre, a ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa in the Gatineau Hills. They were also energetic supporters of Venta Preparatory School.

Joy Green was a person of special character that had an exceptional ability to make the world a better place. She now belongs to eternity, her memory cherished by all of those whom she knew. Visitation will be held at the
