John Verney

John passed away peacefully in hospital on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the age of 78.  Will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Nora (nee McCuaig) of 58 years.  Loving father of the late Lisa Lajeunesse (Steven) and Joanne Wilson (Mark).  Proud Poppa of Paige, Dylan and Connor.  Fondly remembered by his brother Barry (Mitch), and his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Predeceased by his brother Wayne (the late Bonnie).

John was retired as the Chief Fire Prevention Officer from the Nepean Fire Department with 35 years of service.  The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for the care and support received.

Visitation will be held at the Carp Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 115 Rivington St, Carp on Tuesday, October 25 from 11 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 1 p.m.  For those unable to attend in person, a live stream and recording of the service will be available on John’s tribute page at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com.  Reception to follow at the Carp Agriculture Hall, 3790 Carp Road, Carp.  Private burial at St. James Anglican Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, donations may be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation -Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre.
