John David O'Keefe

April 9, 1941 — December 5, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David O’Keefe, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who left us peacefully on December 5, 2024.

David spent his life dedicated to family, faith and community. He was a loving husband to his wife of many years Grace (Shane) and a devoted father to Carolyn (Richard Seager), Texas, Julie (Greg Moriarty), Carleton Place and Sean. His legacy also lives on through his cherished grandchildren Patrick (Kristyn), Matthew (Virginia), Jonathan (Sydney), Michael, Cameron (Emilie) and Zachary and his great- grandchildren Lilliann and Michael.

Survived by his mother-in-law, Frances Shane, sisters-in-law, Judy, Colleen McLean (Scott ) and Carole (Larry) , and brothers-in-law, Paul (Susan), and Mike (Louise). He will be missed by family and friends.

David was predeceased by his parents John and Teresa (Leahy) O’Keefe, sister, Molly Bélanger (late Jean), father-in-law Arnold and brother-in-law, Peter Shane.

David was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and rose through the ranks to District Deputy. He was particularly proud of his efforts towards their Coats for Kids initiative and spent many volunteer hours supporting that as well as other initiatives. David spent a good part of his career in the real estate field, retiring from Bell Canada as a Real Estate Manager. He also served as past president of BOMA, Building and Owners Management Association. After retiring from Bell Canada, he worked at Para Transpo, combining his love of driving and dealing with the public. He enjoyed water skiing, downhill skiing; golfing and watching his Pittsburgh Steelers win their football games. His sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to staff at the Queensway Hospital ALC staff for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
