At Carleton Lodge, May 4, 2016, Frank MacDonald, age 88, dearly loved husband of June (nee Eamer), dear father of Barbara MacDonald (Joe Bally) of Courtenay, BC. and David MacDonald (Jennifer Leichnitz) of Cantley, QC. Predeceased by one son, Peter MacDonald (1984). Also survived by three grandchildren, Erin Swerdfeger, Emily Swerdfeger (Taylor Trott), of Calgary and Ben MacDonald of Pemberton, BC and by one great-granddaughter, Evey Trott. Born in North Bay, Ontario to Frank and Clara MacDonald (nee Gunter), Frank was educated in Mattawa and North Bay and began 41 year career in science at the Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories (AECL). He met June in the Staff Hotel in Deep River and they married in 1953. In 1967 he transferred to NRC and the family moved to Ottawa. He was an outdoor enthusiast, loved fishing, hunting, skiing, and gardening. He was a vintage radio enthusiast, a confirmed DIY, and a willing volunteer in his community. Bridge played a great part in his life and he and June traveled extensively during their retirement years spent in Deep River. The family wishes to thank the staff at Carleton Lodge for their excellent care of Frank for the last few months. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28th, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Deep River Community Church, with interment in the Deep River Community Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Parkinson's Society of Canada would be appreciated.
