Joan Vance

Passed away in Ottawa on October 20, 2013 at the age of 77. Beloved mother of Cheryl (Hal), Barry (Hilary), Linda (Brent), and Steven (Sundaura). Proud grandmother of Brendan, Bradley, Melissa and Ryan. Predeceased by Al Purvis (husband) and her parents, Edna and Roy Vance of Roslin, Ontario. Graduated high school in Tweed, Ontario and received her sociology doctorate from Carleton University. Lived many professional lives, with energy and passion, as a registered nurse, professor, and parliamentary researcher. Spent many wonderful years of companionship with Dennis Olsen. Friends may visit at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, (at Roosevelt) on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations in remembrance of Joan may be made to the Parkinson Society Ottawa.
