She was involved in her communities most recently at the St. Simon’s Anglican parish in Oakville, and in the past as a Guide and Brownie leader in Nova Scotia, as a member of the Wentworth Golf and Curling Club of Montreal where she met and subsequently married Joseph Hurley. She and Joe enjoyed many years square and round dancing and following Joe’s death, Joan and Alfred Negus found mutual pleasure in their dancing and world travels.
One thing that was constant in Joan’s busy life, was the joy she shared with a ready smile and greeting. She loved everyone with all her heart and she will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.
