Peacefully, at New Orchard Lodge, Jean Abra died in her 97 th year. She is survived by her daughter Eleanor in Ottawa, son Brian (Lisa) and grandchildren Nicholas and Christine, all of Edmonton. She also leaves generations of nieces and nephews across the country. Predeceased by husband Robert Abra, her parents Will and Ethel Campbell, her brother Robert Campbell and his wife Jean. Jean was a musician (organ, piano, voice), Girl Guide leader for over 30 years, and was awarded the Girl Guide Medal of Merit. She was active in her community, providing literacy training for adults, and then Grandma Jean at Broadview School. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff at the Sub Acute Frail Elderly Unit at Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre, and the staff at New Orchard Lodge for their excellent care. Thanks also to Dr. Tuli, Ottawa Retina Centre, for treatment of Macular Degeneration. In memoriam donations to Retinal Health Research care of the Ottawa Hospital, Girl Guides of Canada, or the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre would be preferred in lieu of flowers. Visitation will be held at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Rd (at Roosevelt) on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel at Tubman Funeral Homes on Wednesday, January 16 th , 2019 at 11 a.m. Private interment.
