Jane Oliver

December 3, 1952 — March 6, 2021

Stittsville

The family of Cecil and Shirley Oliver regretfully, but with some heartfelt relief, announce the passing of Jane Louise Oliver aka Janie, 'Aunt Slappy' thankfully in her sleep, March 6, 2021.

Predeceased by parents Shirley(Packard) and Arnold Cecil, survived by sisters Margie, Cathy and Susan(Henry), brothers Jim (Susan), Peter, John and Andy, nieces and nephews David, Amanda(Ryan), Kelsey(Jason), Graydon(Anna), Ben, Hayden, Bryce & Gracie, Melissa(Jamie) and Great Aunt to Holly, Ivy, Madison & Cassidy.

Jane was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and friend who was loyal to all and whose sharp wit made her fun to be around and kept everyone in check. She was also a world class floral designer known throughout Eastern Ontario for her excellence and dedication to her craft.

Never one to complain, Janie looked at her deteriorating health square in the eye with a fierce tenacity that only one with such a strong willed determination to stay with us, could continue to amaze family, friends, and caregivers alike. To stay positive like she did as things were thrown at her time after time, not to mention spending the last year, birthday, and of course, her favorite time Christmas in pandemic isolation , can only begin to suggest the character and admiration for our sweet Jane. We will always be proud and remember our cherished time with this most beloved saint.

We would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses, PSWs and entire staff at Bridlewood Trails Retirement Residence who provided excellent care in Janie’s time of need. Special thanks to Margie, Jim, Susan, Susan & Pete for the loving support that was required to assist with Jane’s well being over the past several years. As per Jane’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, however, a burial service celebrating her life will take place at Stittsville United Church in the Spring.

Donations in Janie’s memory gratefully accepted by the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada, Suite 917-750 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1H8.
