It is with great sadness that we announce that Jay Watters passed away Friday Dec 20th.
He was a leap-year baby, born on the Dunrobin family farm, February 29, 1932. Jay was married to Agnes (Niven) originally from Brooklyn, NY for 66 years. He leaves to mourn his wife and best friend Agnes and children: Debbie (Brian), Robert (Carol), Linda and puppy Pepper. Grandchildren, Ashley (Jay), Sky (Dylan), Melissa and Kait (Ethan). Great-Grandchildren, Liya, Angela, Ambrosia and Nate. Special Thanks to nephews: Bernard (Bev) Stroud and Keith (Elaine) Watters for a lifetime of friendship and kindness to Jay and family. All his nephews and nieces were dear to his heart and he enjoyed their visits over the years. His parents were Richard Watters from Crown Point, Ontario, and Margaret (McCauley) from Thorne, Quebec. Jay was predeceased by all his siblings: Vernard, Vincent (Delia), Daniel (Jean), Kenneth (Margaret), Marion (Barney Stroud) and Elwood.
Jay loved the outdoors and was a life-long farmer. He also drove a school bus for many years to Arnprior and Earl of March High Schools,1960's to 1980's. If you lived in Dunrobin, it's possible he might have snowplowed your laneway. He did snowplowing all around Dunrobin for many years. He loved his family, Ford vehicles, Red tractors, and animals. He started farming using the Clydesdale Horses that they raised on the farm but was happy to transition over to a tractor.
He wasn't fond of traveling, as he felt his home had everything he needed. He loved to read, but once that book was opened.....he needed to stay up late to finish. He was a lot of fun, we will miss his kidding around. He loved 2 songs "You are my Sunshine" and "Midnight Blue". When we hear these songs we think of him. He will be forever in our hearts.
In accordance with Jay's wishes, there will be a private family service at St. Isidore Roman Catholic Church, South March in the spring.
To honour Jay's love of animals a donation may be made to Ottawa Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
