James Cameron Ritchie

Unexpectedly, at the Civic Hospital on April 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Joan Christine Bain for 60 years. Cherished father of Andrew (Donna), Peter (Kristen) and Elaine (Kevin). Proud and loving grandfather of Ashley McCormack (Scott), David, Robert and Rebecca Ritchie, Nolan, Adam and Shane Levesque, and great grandfather to Maximus McCormack. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Marjorie Bain, and his late brother-in-law John Bain. He was the only son of the late George and Bee Ritchie, and only grandson of the late James and Lillie Wigmore (McIlwain). Jim was born at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on May 20th, 1937, and resided his whole life in Ottawa (Kanata), spending boyhood summers at Meech Lake and later at his beloved Glen.Wood, Norway Bay, Quebec where gatherings of family and friends were always so special. His happiest times were with his family at home, at the cottage or in Florida. He was a long-time member of Kanata Theatre, Past President of the Norway Bay Historical Society, and Under the Pines Music Festival. Jim cherished his tenure as Peoples Warden in his church. Friends are invited to call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) Nepean on Monday, April 29th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon. Cremation to follow. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at Norway Bay Cemetery on Monday, May 20th, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the family cottage. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, a donation to the Ottawa Heart Institute or St. John's Anglican Church, Kanata would be appreciated.
