Jake Schmiedel

We are extremely saddened to announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Jake at the age 92 with his loving wife of 52 years by his side on Thursday, July 18th, 2024. Beloved father of Chris (Laurence Simonin), Mario, Camille and Suzette (Andre Lapointe). Proud grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 3. Brother of Hanna Mansfield (Al). Predeceased by his granddaughter Sabrina (Jonathan), brother Wolfgang and sister-in-law Haidi. Remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and family in Germany. 

Jakes landscaping was well respected by his many customers in Rockliffe Park and after retirement he spent many hours creating beautiful flower beds at his home on the farm which has become a peaceful oasis and much admired. He and Tina also enjoyed the fresh organic vegetables from his garden. When younger, he loved to look after a great menagerie of barnyard animals, including the dogs and many cats. Special thanks to the Cavanagh family, especially Brian who was such a great help in the garden for many years. 

A memorial reception will be held at the Carp Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 115 Rivington St. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. with Words of Remembrance at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
