Canon J. Allan D. Meakin
Peacefully, on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the age of 85. Loving and devoted husband, for 60 years, of Jean (nee Hemphill). Proud and cherished father of John (Cathy), Jennifer, and Andrea (Dennis). Amazing "Poppa" of Thomas, Megan, Peter, Maxwell, Avery, Dawn and Amy. Allan will also be fondly remembered by extended family, friends, and former parishioners. Allan, and Jean, were both graduates of Bishop's University in Lennoxville, QC. In preparation for his ordination, Allan graduated from Trinity College in Toronto. His ministry with the Anglican Church of Canada saw him serve 30 years in the diocese of Ottawa and 8 years in the aided diocese of Athabasca. For 13 years after retirement he served many of the churches in the Pembroke Deanery. Allan was recognized for his significant contribution to the community and Canada by being awarded the Commemorative Medal from the Governor General on the 125 th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada. The family wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the special staff of Hospice at May Court, for their compassion and care.

Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean on Sunday, Nov. 20 from 1:00 - 3:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm, and on Monday, Nov. 21 at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church, 2345 Alta Vista Drive from 10:00 am until time of service which will be held at 11:00 am., followed by a reception in the church hall.
