Iris Pamela Stephens

Iris Pamela Stephens, 99, passed away peacefully, in Ottawa on February 21, 2024. 

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Iris Stephens, who departed from this world at the age of 99. She was surrounded by members of her loving family as she transitioned from this life, with her favorite music playing, on February 21, 2024. Iris was a proud Welsh woman who lived a life filled with love, laughter, song, kindness, and grace. 

Born in Abertidwr and raised in Caerphilly, Wales, Iris was a cherished sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Throughout her long and fulfilling life, she touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her songs intertwined with the whispers of nature as she embarked on her beloved walks, leaving behind a symphony of memories etched in every step she took. 

Her presence brought joy and comfort to those around her, and her wisdom was sought after by many. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and laughter that will be forever cherished by her family and friends. 

Despite the passing of time, Iris remained deeply connected to her Welsh heritage, instilling in her loved ones a profound sense of pride and appreciation for their roots. 

In her passing, she finds solace in reuniting with her beloved husband Bryn Stephens, finding eternal peace in his loving embrace once more. Iris is survived by her sister Vivianne Edwards (Roy Edwards), daughter Joy Hunter (Michael Hunter), son David Stephens, grandchildren Richard Hunter, Cheryl Simpson (John Davey), Karen Hunter, Grant Langill (Andrenea Troyer), Marie-Angélique Stephens, Geneviève-Marie Stephens (Pierre Malouin), Guylaine Blais, and her great-grandchildren Ethan Hunter, Lucas Simpson, Jessica Simpson, Aaron Hunter, and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who will continue to honor her memory by living their lives with the same love, and strength that she exemplified. 

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Iris Stephens will be held on Friday August 9th, 2024, at Tubman Funeral Homes, Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean at 2PM. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her life and sharing cherished memories, web streaming will also be available for those unable to attend in person.  

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your local Royal Canadian Legion in honor of Iris Pamela Stephens. 

As she takes her final stroll into eternity's embrace, may her songs continue to echo in the winds, and her footsteps guide us toward the timeless beauty she cherished. 

Iris Stephens will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
