Iris Brodie

April 9, 1931 — April 19, 2017

Brazier - Iris Audrey

Peacefully at Carleton Lodge on Wednesday, 19 April 2017 in her 87th year. Much loved and loving mother of Ian (Sue) and Jane-Sara (Ken), step-mother to Denise, Wendy & Jill. Treasured grandmother of John, Kirsten, Chris, Jason and David, Lloyd, Nicole, Erin, Matt, Justin, Andrew and Jessica. (GG) Great grandmother to Ava, Lucas and Juliette. Gordon Brodie`s big sister. Predeceased by husbands Frank (Turner) & Chappie (Brazier).

Born in Ruislip, England to Albert & Gertrude Brodie, Iris lived happily in Dublin, Ireland for 11 years and Johannesburg, South Africa, for 16 years before moving to Manotick, Canada in 1994. Iris immersed herself in community life and was well-known for her volunteerism. An active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 314, Iris served as third vice-president for four years and assisted in the office and on the social and Poppy Campaign committees. A past-President of Manotick Probus Club, longtime volunteer with Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind and volunteer receptionist for Rideau Community Services Centre (now ROSSS), Iris served 11 years on the Board of Watson`s Mill and was a Monday-morning fixture working the cash register at the Miller`s Oven. Iris will be deeply missed by all.

Thanks to Bonnie & Ted, Dawn & Roman for treating Iris as their own. Thanks also to the staff of Carleton Lodge, Nepean unit, for their kindness and considerate care. In keeping with Iris' final wishes there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers and donations, please celebrate Iris' life-long acts of generosity by volunteering an hour or two – or more – for your choice of charitable organization.
