H.G. Allen

January 7, 1916 — May 25, 2015

On Monday, May 25, 2015, in his 100 th year surrounded by loved ones, Chris has gone to be with his beloved wife of 64 years, Norma May. Loving and much respected father of Stephen (Anne), Marian Bell (John) and the late John (Tuula). Cherished and proud grandfather of Carolyn (Shane) and Andrew (Casey), Chris (Leanne), Tim (Caitlin) and Matt (Alena). Chris was born in England on January 7, 1916, the eldest of six children, who all predeceased him. During WWII he served with distinction as a gunner in the Maritime Regiment of the Royal Artillery. He spent his entire life caring for others, from his younger siblings to his employees as plant manager at Kellogg-Salada in Montreal. A long-time resident of West-Carleton, and more recently at home in Westport; Chris attended and thoroughly enjoyed the Perth Enrichment Program for Older Adults. Although he was a man of few words, when he spoke, what he had to say was met with respect and interest. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd.) on Friday, May 29 th from 2:00 - 6:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church Anglican, Bells Corners (3861 Old Richmond Road) on Saturday, May 30 th at 11:00 am, followed by a reception.
