Passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2022 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital at the age of 96 years. Predeceased by his dear wife of 66 years Marianne (Dand), father of 3 children Andrew (Pat), Peter (Dolores), and Deborah (Tim), grandfather to Matthew, Bethany, Sarah, Victoria, and Ben and great grandfather to 5. He is greatly missed by family and friends.
He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1951 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and went on to do his Masters at M.I.T. in Boston. He later worked as an Engineer with the Avro Arrow project. Later moving to Montreal in 1959 he worked for Canadian Aerospace Equipment. Then moved to the Ottawa area to work with the federal government as a trade commissioner.
His life long passion was sailing his many boats through the years and cycling along the many bike paths of the Ottawa-Gatineau region until his 88th year. Many happy years were spent in the Bahamas aboard yacht Scaramouche and then in Mexico where they spent winters in Ajijic.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 10 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. For those unable to attend the service in person a live stream and recording option are available by scrolling below. Private interment will be held at Pinecrest Remembrance Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Bytown Brigantine Foundation.
