Helen Rapp

July 25, 1925 — August 22, 2013

Bomb girl, veteran of the Canadian Women's Army Corp, student of Art History and Inuit art, volunteer dynamo at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Armed Forces Pensioner’s Association and the Canadian War Museum amongst many others. Champion for veterans rights, particularly military widows. Proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Exilda Villeneuve, and siblings Fred, Albert, Joseph and Mary, and her first love, Frank Rapp. Survived by her second love (found when they were both in their mid seventies), Gerry Bowen, her daughters Sharon Halayko (Jamie Kyd), Patsy St. Denis, Kathleen Murdie (Ross Murdie) and her sons Blaine Rapp (Linda Rapp) and John Rapp (Annik Lepage), and stepsons Don Bowen (Margaret Bowen), Greg Bowen (Rena Bowen) and Chris Bowen, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She defined grace, loyalty, courage and a life well lived and loved. Visitation at the Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Road Monday, August 26 from 7 to 9 pm, and Tuesday, August 27 from 10 to 11 am, followed by a service and reception. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
