Obituary for Helen (Nell) Lighthall
December 29, 1942 – November 29, 2021
Peacefully in hospital, surrounded by her family on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the age of 78 years. Loving mother of Sarah Smith (Kirk) and Elizabeth Lighthall. Proud and cherished Nana of Nicholas and Ryan Smith, and William McLeod. Dear sister of Archie Campbell. Predeceased by her husband, John Lighthall, her parents, Arch and Ulea Campbell, her sister Sarah, and her sister-in-law Marilyn. She will also be missed by her extended family and many friends.
Nell grew up in St.Thomas and moved to Kingston to attend Queen’s University, where she met John. They spent several years in Brockville and finally settled in Kanata. Nell was a long-time dedicated volunteer at the CNIB and an active member of Kanata United Church. Despite being diagnosed with MS during university, she lived a very full life, never missing a chance to attend any event or social function.
Nell was a shining light in this world, with her never-ending positivity, optimism, and spirit. She was an inspiration to many and will long be remembered by all those who were lucky enough to know her.
