Hartin – Helen Aileen (née Scott)

May 8, 1938 – October 2, 2021

With great sadness we announce Helen’s passing. Beloved wife of the late Murray Hartin and dear mother of Heather Hartin-Avon (David) and Bonnie Hartin Fiarchuk (Rick).   Adoring, proud Grandma of Emma, Andrew, Olivia and Trinity.   Cherished “Auntie” of Bradley and Nancy. Predeceased by her loving parents, Pipe Major Sam Scott and Aileen Waddell, and only sister Margaret Scott.  Graduate of The Ottawa Civic Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1959.

After a rapid decline in her health, Mom left us on Saturday, October 2nd.  We were at her bedside.  After we let her know that it was time to join Dad and assured her we would look after each other, Mom peacefully slipped away.  There is so much we could say about Mom.  She is best described as a sweet, truly caring person who was sincerely interested in what you shared with her during a visit or over the course of a conversation.  Her chattiness and sense of humour never left her.  As a close family friend said, “Anyone who knew Helen, or even just met her, would immediately know that she was one of the good ones”.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Andrea McDonald, staff on the Assisted Living Floor as well as the Lifestyles team at VIVA Barrhaven.   We are grateful for their compassion, patience and care.

Friends may attend a visitation at Southgate Church, 1303 French Settlement Rd., Kemptville on Tuesday, October 12th from 4 to 7 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at Southgate on Wednesday, October 13th at 1 p.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens.  Due to Covid-19, registration for visitation and service are required by scrolling below.  A recording of the service will be available on Thursday, October 14th.
