Helen Margaret Daboll

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen (Howell) Daboll announces her peaceful passing on February 24, 2025.

Helen lived a beautiful life and with her peaceful passing surrounded by her family, joins her loving husband of almost 70 years, H. Ross, in death. True high school sweethearts, it was a one-of-a-kind lasting love affair that bestowed many joyful memories upon her family. Helen was a wonderful mother to her daughter Jayne (René) Bilodeau and her son Peter (Karen), and held enormous love and pride for her six grandchildren: Steven, Alex, and Eric Bilodeau, and Cameron, Giverny, and Michael Daboll as well as her two great-grandchildren: Andrew and Luke Daboll. Helen was predeceased by her brother Ross Howell and will be forever and fondly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She was a loyal supporter and loving cheerleader to everyone in her family and shared her joie de vivre generously.

Helen grew up surrounded by extended family, which was everything to her. A lover of nature in all seasons, Helen shared her many passions and talents with friends and family as well as church and community. She lived for her family and made the family farm come alive for her grandchildren for many years, the memories of which will be cherished and shared with future generations.

A graduate of Carleton University, Helen devoted her life and talents to her chosen profession of teaching. Helen was a trendsetter, being a full-time mother, wife, and teacher and juggling all responsibilities with grace and flair.

To her, teaching was more than a job but a true calling. She simply loved all children and had a special magic that led each child in her care to feel uniquely special. Known for her infectious enthusiasm, boundless patience, and creative spirit, she brought joy and a love of learning to every classroom she entered. 

She was kind to all, strong in both spirit and devotion to those she loved; an inspiration and example of how to live well, and always embodying her fierce Canadian patriotism. We are grateful for the time we had with her, and will deeply miss her sparkle, style, and loving heart daily.

We are celebrating her life with a small live and virtual ceremony on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 2 p.m. ET at Tubman Gardens Chapel, 3440 Richmond Rd in Nepean, ON. The virtual ceremony can be accessed below.
