Heinz Burgmann (1940-2025) passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus, on January 2, after a courageous battle with cancer. His good friend Pegge was at his side.
Heinz was born in Oberndorf, Austria, the small town where ‘ Silent Night’ was written. He is survived by his brothers Otto (Eugenia) of Switzerland and Herbert and Kurt of Austria and predeceased by an eight year old sister.
Heinz was a kind man with a soft spot for animals but he would not hesitate to stand up for friends or strangers in need. He was a skilled machinist and could fix just about anything. Heinz had many interests including gardening, aquaculture, animal husbandry and designing and building miniature furniture. His unwavering strength of will was shown in the way he overcame the difficulties in his early years in post-war Austria. Heinz came to Canada in 1965 and Canada became his home. He will be greatly missed by many friends.
