FOGO, Heather Adair

Peacefully at home, after a short illness, on February 13, 2020. Born in Ottawa, on Friday, October 19th, 1945. Predeceased by her beloved husband, James Gordon Fogo. Loving and devoted mum to Robert Adam and Amy Adair (Ryan Brophy). Dear Nana to Cael James Fogo Brophy. Big sister to Jane Hamilton (the late Lorne Ellingson) and Alexander Hamilton. Adored daughter of Constance (Tonny) Hamilton (née Jackson) and the late Robert Hamilton. Caring step-daughter of the late F. X. (Ebbie) Lavoie and the late Lionel Strange. Loving aunt to Hadley, Jamie, and Alex Harper, and to Chloë and John-Allan Ellingson. Graduate of South Carleton High School and Ethel Gould Business College.

An accomplished choral singer, Heather sang at Saint James Anglican Church, Manotick, was a founding and Honorary Member of the Canadian Centennial Choir, was a longtime member of the Anglican Chorale of Ottawa, and also sang with Vox Humana and the Ottawa Choral Society.  Highlights of her musical life include CCC soprano section leader, performances under the direction of Nicholas Goldschmidt and Pinchas Zukerman, singing in Elvish with the NAC Orchestra, and many ACO trips to churches and cathedrals in the UK and Ireland.

Heather was a championship gardener who loved spending as many daylight hours as possible in her own gardens, and cherished her years working at Gamble's Greenhouses, Nepean. She was a longtime member of the Manotick Horticultural Society. Heather was a voracious reader, a wonderful cook and baker and an enthusiastic volunteer at church and in the community. She had a lifelong love of horses and riding, and was predeceased by her beloved spaniels, Daniel and Sally. Heather will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

A memorial reception will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd, Nepean (between Baseline Rd and Bayshore), on Sunday, February 23rd, from 2 to 6 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Manotick Horticultural Society, Canadian Centennial Choir or Canadian Blood Services would be appreciated.

The family is deeply grateful to her palliative doctor, to her caring nurses and to all those who have donated blood.
