Glen James Caskie
18 August 1968 – 18 June 2023
Family and friends are heartbroken over Glen’s early passing from Cancer and other complications, on June 18th at the Elisabeth Bruyere Hospice Unit.
Glen was predeceased by his mother Joan (Chapman) Caskie, wife of 25 years Cathie (Malkin) Caskie, and brother-in-law James Kerr.
United in grief are his father Robert Caskie; sisters Gwen Kerr and Beth Caskie; adored niece Annika Kerr; beloved partner and extraordinary caregiver Kim Thomas; aunt Lois Hislop; cousins Barbara Little, Susan Shea, Mike and Nikki Chapman; extended family and dearest friends including Tim Moran & family, Bill Wignall, Shawn Scott, Scott Dumas, Roger and Barry Nandal, Jon Gilboa, the Wiebes, Wayne Hendsbee, special girl Maddie Derrick-Foley, and his coworkers at Lee Valley Tools, a company that has been outstanding in their support and compassion.
Glen had a good time wherever he went. He spent years playing and coaching hockey, loved his glorious summers at the cottage, had many adventures with friends, hung out with the Bayshore and Bell kids, and spent lots of quality time with family. He was loyal, a defender and protector of those who needed his help, and was generous with his time and money. Glen was a man’s man whose presence filled any room. His nicknames, Tank and C-Ment, fit him perfectly. He deeply loved his family, partners, friends, pets, and his country where he served for a time in the Air Force. He worked hard all his life starting as a paperboy and ending with 25 years at Lee Valley.
Glen endured a lot in his last months and we are forever grateful to Dr. Bernie MacIntosh and staff; the Cancer, Thoracic, Heart, Stroke, Pain, Emergency, and Palliative teams at the Ottawa Hospital, QCH, and Bruyere Hospice; and his pharmacists at Rexall in Hazeldean.
Family, friends and colleagues are invited to a Celebration of Glen’s Life at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Road) on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 1 to 3 pm. Condolences, donations and tributes may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
If you wish, donations to your local hospital foundation would be lovely.
