Gilbert Lorne Erwin

Erwin, Gilbert “LORNE” passed away peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on July 10, 2024 at the age of 87 years. Born in Ottawa on August 31, 1936 he lived his entire life in the Ottawa and surrounding area. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Verna Erwin and his granddaughter Emily Ellacott. Will forever be remembered by his daughter Nancy Ellacott, granddaughter Jes Ellacott (Alex Karakatsanis) of Toronto, grandson David Ellacott (Kathleen Mifflin) of Dartmouth and great-granddaughter Mira along with extended family and friends.

For those who knew him, he had a very dry sense of humour which was present right until the end. Although he did not embrace technology– much to everyone’s chagrin–he kept up with what was going on in the world and his neighbourhood. He will be missed, but knowing that he remained in his home, where he wanted to be, is a comfort.

In honour of his “KISS” (Keep It Simple, Stupid) mindset, a private graveside burial will take place in August at Capital Memorial Gardens.
