Gerald Clairmont

After a short, but courageous fight Gerry “GerBear” Clairmont passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the age of 67, his beautiful wife Kathy-O steadfastly by his side. 

In typical Gerry fashion, he continued to work throughout his treatment until the very end. A staple at Barrhaven Ford (Dan Murphy) for 30+ years, cancer wasn’t going to keep him out of the showroom or from telling his team to sell more cars. A sincere thank you to Pat Butler and the entire Ford team for their incredible support.

Loving husband of Kathy, proud step dad to the Stack boys Brendan (Laura), Kyle (Shelby) and Tyler. Beloved Pop pop to his pride and joy, Ashton and Drew. Gerry will also be fondly remembered by his big sister Dianne Kelly, his nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, his life long friend and cousin Darlene (Steve), his beautiful Godmother Bernie and bonus daughter Shylo Way (Eric).

He is predeceased by his niece Allie Kelly, his brother in law Jim Kelly and his parents Frederick and Margaret Clairmont, whom we are sure he is already enjoying a beer and tomato juice with. 

Not one to let others pick up the bill, Gerry’s generosity shone far beyond just monetary. He gave liberally with his time, wisdom and off coloured jokes, usually followed by that trademark chuckle that made his whole body shake.

A friend to so many, in all walks of life. Never one to turn down a good time (as long as it was before 10pm). He lived his life on his terms. If only we can all be so lucky.

Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wheatley-Price and his entire team at the Ottawa General Hospital. You made him and the family feel safe and cared for in some of our hardest days.

For those who wish to pay their respects, a visitation will be held at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 1610 Roger Stevens Drive on Saturday, December 14th from 2 to 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
