It is with great sadness that we announce Georgina’s passing on May 20, 2023 at the May Court Hospice with her family by her side.
Georgina will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Bert, her two children Craig (Jackie) and Lisa (Mike), her three grandchildren, Lucas, Zoe, and Clark, and a large circle of extended family and friends.
With an abundance of common sense and patience, Georgina was a natural teacher. She was creative, seeing potential in everything from buttons to people; she was insightful, always thinking of interesting ways of doing things and wickedly smart. A curious lifelong learner of a wide range of subjects (shown by her copious amounts of books and eagerness to learn the ‘new’ math to teach the grandkids when the parents had already given up). She started a brief career as a teacher and never regretted trading it for full-time motherhood. Georgina loved her family dearly and her grandchildren, just as her children before them, were the light and joy of her life.
Georgina was a balanced combination of tenacity and compassion. She spoke her mind and always had something to say, but had a true compassion for people and was the first one to drop everything to help anyone in need, whether she knew them or not. She loved to give of her time and resources and her quiet generosity was remarkable. Matched only by her husband, the love of her life.
Georgina was a true Proverbs 31 woman…more precious than rubies. She was an amazing woman of faith, always optimistic and fearless with a bold ‘bring it on’ attitude.
She was her family’s loudest cheerleader and most honest critic, always challenging us to be ‘our best’.
We are forever grateful for her legacy of faith, wise counsel, relentless love, comfort and steady confidence. Her name will always be a blessing.
The family expresses its sincere appreciation and gratefulness to the staff of the Civic Hospital and May Court Hospice for their compassion, care and support.
A memorial service is being planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the May Court Hospice.
