George Kenneth “Ken” Jefferson
March 21, 1926 - April 2, 2021
Survived by his loving wife and companion of 44 years, Lucille. Deeply missed by his children and step-children Sue, Greg, Sara (Bill), Matt, Phil, Linda (Norman) and Gerry (Carol). Much loved by grandchildren Colin (Caitlin), Danny, Gweth and Rehema; great-grandchildren Quentin and Riley; and sister-in-law Nancy.
Predeceased by his first wife Velma after 30 wonderful years of marriage, his parents George and Elizabeth, brother David, sister Beth, daughter Kenna, sons Mike and Marc and daughters-in-law Michelle and Heidi.
Ken had many skills and talents, including in art, prose and song. A loyal husband and proud of his family, Ken was the family historian and storyteller. Through his monthly letters he kept his large circle of family and friends entertained and connected and reminded us of how important the small things are. He served in the Navy, graduated from Harvard, could fix anything, built a log home, was a fierce croquet competitor, and worked until he was 75.
His creative spirit, quiet wisdom and steady presence will be deeply missed.
A huge thank you to Carlingwood Retirement Community for their support and wonderful care over the past seven years, to the A5 medical team of the Ottawa Civic Hospital for providing such attention and kindness in the last weeks and to Jordan for being there.
A private family gathering will be held when COVID restrictions allow it.
In Ken’s memory, sing a song loudly. He would love that.
