Knight - Geoffrey Brunton

Geoffrey Brunton Knight, 85, died on 24 December 2013 in Stittsville, ON. Born in England on 3 August 1928 to Herbert and Dorothy Knight, he graduated from Saint Andrew's University, Scotland. Geoffrey was happily married to Bridget Daly (Betty Knight) for 57 years. He worked at AECL Deep River as a health physicist before transferring to Ontario Hydro in Oshawa, then AECB in Ottawa. In 1978 he was assisted in the retrieval of crashed satellite Cosmos 954 in NWT. An avid naturalist who could accurately name any bird, tree, or bug, Geoff was also a skilled artist and enjoyed listening to classical music. Geoff was preceded in death by his sister Muriel (Peter) and son Andy. He is survived by his wife Betty, son Peter (Marg), daughter-in-law Linzi, daughter Fiona (Michel), niece Sarah, nephew Nicholas, and six grandchildren: Christopher, Romi, Oliver, Sophi, Nicholas, and Caitlin. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM, Friday 27 December at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Kanata. The family will greet visitors in the hall immediately following the service. Deepest thanks for the loving care provided by the staff of Specialty Care – Granite Ridge long term care home, and the work of the Alzheimer's Society. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be sent to St. Paul’s Anglican Church , 20 Young Road, Kanata, ON K2L1W1 to support community ministry or to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.
