Gayle Jabour

Passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, November 18, 2022.

Affectionately known as “Auntie G”, Gayle left us on Friday, November 18th to join her brother, Terry, and her life partner, David Helme, on “the other side”, as she would say.

Gayle was a free spirit who made the most of every moment! She was very much loved by all of her family and lifelong friends.

She loved life and was always quick to share her hearty laugh.

Her career began at Health Canada, moved to CBC Toronto, News and Public Affairs and then on to CRTC as Chief of Canadian content.

In her retirement, she thoroughly enjoyed co-authoring “The Time of Your Life”, an interesting book about retirement.

She will be sorely missed by her Sister, Dawn Kalil, her Nephews, David, Robert and Peter Kalil, Niece Jody Mews (Rob), and her Grand Nieces and Nephews, Mitch, Ben and Sam Kalil, Kylie, Sasha and Brett Mews, Emma and Cameron Kalil.

Gayle also leaves behind her lifelong best friend, cousin and partner in crime, Dorothy Ellis Kruger.

As per Gayle’s request, there will be no funeral.  The family will hold a Celebration of Gayle’s Life in the summer.

In lieu of flowers, her favourite charities are the Salvation Army and the Ottawa Food Bank.
