Thompson – Garry Stirling
Peacefully at Kemptville District Hospital after saying goodbye to his family Saturday, April 20, 2024 in his 77th year. Survived by his devoted wife Inez (née Arbuckle); daughter, Colleen of North Gower; son Dwight of Morrisburg, and granddaughter, Gracelyn, of whom he was fond and very proud.
Also survived by his sisters Elaine Schweig (Bill), of Combermere, Carol Thompson (Doug Culver) of Morrisburg and brother Bob of Iroquois. Predeceased by his parents Hillis and Doris (nee Horner) Thompson, originally of Shawville, QC, and two sisters Emily Collin and Dawn Thompson. He will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.
He made many friends during his time at Sunoco where he retired and where he was proud to have spent the majority of his working life. Dad loved Jesus and John Deere. He found a way to combine both by readily helping his friends and family! Garry was always proud of his Shawville roots.
The family expresses gratitude to the Nursing and Palliative Care staff at the Kemptville District Hospital and the LTC staff at Garden Terrace (Kanata) and Southbridge (Kemptville) for their dedicated care and support during this difficult time.
The family will receive friends at Cornerstone Wesleyan Church, 6556 Prince of Wales Dr., North Gower on Saturday, May 25th from 11 am until time of memorial service at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
