Gail Helen Attfield R.N. (nee Fisher) 

It is with great sadness that we announce Gail’s passing on November 23, 2024 at the age of 85 at her residence, Almonte Country Haven. 

Gail Attfield was born on November 29, 1938, to William and Leah (Carter) Fisher, in Ottawa. She was a beloved sister to Bill Fisher (Gladys); loving mother to Deborah Marson (David), Jan Carter Lea, and Karen de Vries (Fimme); dear grandmother to Colin (Alyssa), Joshua (Virginia), Emma, Justin (Jillian), and Jordan (Keely); and great-grandmother to Braxton, Evelyn, Winifred, Oaklen, and Ila. 

For over 45 years, Gail’s career as a Registered Nurse was marked by her unwavering dedication, knowledge, and compassion. She graduated in 1959 from the Ottawa Civic Hospital, alongside a wonderful group of dear ladies who remain friends. Gail dedicated much of her professional life to the field of emergency nursing as a valued member of a close team of skilled professionals, before retiring at the age of 67 from the Queensway Carleton Hospital. 

Gail was a nurturing, first aid expert aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a loyal friend to all, including her many longtime friends, cherished neighbours and nursing colleagues. To them she will be remembered for her warmth, her grace and a beautiful smile that lit up the room. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. 

Gail showed remarkable strength, courage, and a will-to-live. Her daughters extend a special thank you to the dedicated and kind staff at Almonte Country Haven. 

In Gail’s honour, donations are appreciated to Parkinson's Society Canada or the Alzheimer Society Canada. 

Please join her family on December 2, 2024, from 1-4pm to celebrate Gail’s strength, thoughtfulness, and loyalty to her extensive family, wonderful friends, and respected profession at Tubman’s Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, ON. There will be a private burial at Pinecrest Cemetery at another time.
