Frederick Glen Bollman

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick Glen Bollman. Fred passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the age of 94. Fred was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in London, Ontario, as the only child of Frederick and Mildred Bollman. After completing his training in Regina, Saskatchewan, Fred embarked on a distinguished career with the RCMP, beginning in Kirkland Lake before settling in Ottawa, Ontario. He retired in 1985 and spent his retirement years enjoying golf at the Highlands Golf Club and winters in Florida. Fred cherished gatherings with his family, where his golf skills were often the subject of good-natured teasing. A kind soul and a devoted family man and friend, Fred was sometimes gruff on the outside but had a heart of gold. Fred will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Josephine Bollman (McPhee); his daughter, Cheryl Howlett; his sons, John McPhee, Eric McPhee, Shawn McPhee, Mark McPhee (Paige), and Stephen Bollman (Pamela); and his sisters-in-law, Shirley McPhee and Mabel McLellan. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fred was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Jean, in 1977. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus for their care during Fred’s final hours, as well as the wonderful staff at Oak Park Retirement Community for their kindness and support over the past several months. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 120 Lisgar Street, Ottawa. In accordance with Fred’s wishes, a private interment will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to Knox Presbyterian Church in Ottawa would be greatly appreciated by the family.
