Fred McNaughton (Fredquip Repair)
June 20, 1953 – March 22, 2020
Sadly, on March 22, 2020, Fred passed away at the Queensway Carleton Hospital after a brief, but intense battle with cancer. His loving wife (Greta) was by side, as she has been for almost 50 years. He leaves behind his three daughters Joleen, Katie Cornelisse, Kelly Wilson (Scott), and granddaughters, Isabella and Olivia Cornelisse. He will be sadly missed by his sister Lynn Ouimet (Gary), brothers Lorne (Shirley), Allister, Bruce (Brenda), his sister-in-laws Merna Rippstein (Peter) and France Lampron, his aunts and many nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his friends (including the infamous “Breakfast Club”) and the customers of Fredquip Repair.
Fred was a loving husband and amazing father who instilled in his family the value of hard work, generosity and kindness. He was a devoted grandfather who looked forward to the time he spent with his granddaughters. He cherished Sunday family dinners and quality time with all his girls. He loved the outdoors and could often be found gardening, cutting grass, fishing or just enjoying a cold beer. Fred was a man of few words, but could always be counted on to help friends and family when in need. He never let the small things get him down and would often shrug his shoulders and say “it don’t matter.”
Fred was so fortunate to be in the care of the nurses and doctors at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. His family would like to thank the staff in the C4 unit who went above and beyond to make Fred as comfortable as possible and who treated the family with compassion and kindness. In lieu of flowers, a memoriam donation can be made to Queensway Carleton Hospital foundation or Hospice Care Ottawa (Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Kanata). Although Fred never made it to hospice, we would like to support this hospice to give others the opportunity to keep their loved ones close.
There will be a celebration of Fred’s life at a later date. Please email fredquiprepair@outlook.com, if you would like to be notified when a date is in place. Tributes, condolences and donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
