Frank Paveck

June 10, 1925 – July 18, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Paveck, 97, at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. Frank was recently predeceased by Marion, his dear wife of 72 years, whom he sorely missed and whose passing left him heartbroken. He is survived by his sister Anne and predeceased by his sister Mary and brother Joe.

Frank was the loving father of Elizabeth (Robert Charest) and Frank Jr. (Terri Biggs), and deeply beloved special grandpa to Marc, Andrew and Michelle Charest, and Hannah and Spencer Paveck, and great-grandpa to Julie, Henry, Charlotte, Isabelle, Eleanor, Sylvie and Clara.

Born in Slovenia, Frank and his elder siblings followed their father to Canada in 1937 and settled in Kirkland Lake. There he met and married Marion Armstrong and together they raised their family and shared the ownership and operation of Woods Street Grocery for 25 years. Upon their retirement, they re-joined their children in Ottawa, and enjoyed cherished time with their family and memorable travels, particularly to Frank’s birth country of Slovenia.

At work, Frank was renowned for his skill as a butcher and for his outgoing nature and dedicated, friendly service. At home, he was an exemplary role model, wholeheartedly devoted to his family and friends, always deeply loving and generous, positive and wonderfully playful. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will hold him in their hearts with everlasting love, and forever remember his keen interest in their lives, and his enthusiastic commitment to their enjoyment, especially at the cottage at Lake Sesekinika.

The family expresses a deep appreciation to the staff at Stillwater Creek Retirement Residence for their ongoing kind and gentle care of Frank, and to the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their assistance and compassion during his last days.

A private family service is planned. A graveside interment will be held in Kirkland Lake at a later date. Tributes, condolences or donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Alzheimer Society of Canada may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
