Frank Marchington

July 2, 1930 — September 25, 2024

On the 25th September 2024 in his 95th year. 

He is survived by his children: Linda Pakan (Mark) Mississauga, David Marchington (Patty) Ottawa, and James Marchington (Elaine Gillen) Dunrobin; Grandchildren: Michael LeFave (Donna Kent) Orangeville, William Marchington (Alexandra) Pakenham, Sarah Marchington (Alex Harmsen) Ottawa, and James Marchington (Erin) Carleton Place; Great Grandchildren: Edward & Charlotte Kent, and Thomas Marchington. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Marchington (Perth), nieces and nephews, and extended family in the UK. 

Predeceased by his wife Ruth (Davis), daughter Marilyn Jean, parents Frank & Mabel Marchington, brothers John Marchington (Grace) and Kenney Marchington (Annette). 

Retired Justice of the Peace, former Mayor of the Township of West Carleton, and Former Reeve of the Township of Torbolton. From his youth to his elder years, Frank maintained his keen interests in politics, farming, and big band swing music, forming a band in high school. He was a Kiwanis Past President and an entrepreneur in several new and used automotive businesses, occasionally with his brother John. Frank was past President of the New Car Dealers Association of Ontario. He remembered his mentor and friend the late Hyman Bessin with fondness and gratitude. Frank was Special Assistant to a Former Speaker of the House of Commons, the late Lloyd Francis. He was proud to be a contributing resident of the communities in which he lived and he enjoyed many life-long friends from those communities. 

The Family extends special thanks to the Carleton Lodge Staff of Nepean Village for their kind and considerate care of Frank. 

Friends are invited to join the family at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa on Saturday October 12th at 10 am. Graveside remembrances and burial at 12 pm. Reception to follow at Pinecrest Visitation Centre. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute are appreciated.
