Frances Armitage

Frances Alberta Armitage (née Carroll)

After a wonderful life, Frances passed away on November 27th at the age of 92. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Frank L. Armitage, by her parents, J. Eddington Carroll and Olivia Irene Cummins of Moncton, NB, and by her only sister, Margaret Biddiscombe of Saint John, NB. Frances adored her four children, who absolutely adored her right back - Jane (Norm Fournier) in South Carolina, Carole (Patrick Haussler), Frank E. (Ricki Burgess) and Nancy (Martin Green), all of Ottawa, Ontario. She had ten much-loved grandchildren, Stephanie and Kevin Fournier, Johanna, Kelly and Paul Haussler, Jared, Devan and Estri Armitage, and Rachel and Sharon Green, along with five great-grandchildren.

Frances was a proud Maritimer, hailing from Moncton, N.B. She attended Sullivan Secretarial School and her first job was with Crane Canada Ltd. where she met and fell for her boss, the cute new guy from Halifax. They moved to Montreal and lived happily in Dorval for over 60 years, returning east every summer.

Frances was a long-time member of Dorval Strathmore United Church and was very involved with the UCW, also singing in the church choir. She volunteered for over 40 years with Meals on Wheels and was a Snowy Owl with the Girl Guides. Frances loved getting together weekly to chat, laugh and eat with her dear friends, the Monday Morning Coffee ladies. Frances was thoughtful, friendly and generous of spirit, but above all, she was kind. And such a good Mom.

A private funeral will take place.
