Ethel Taylor

December 6, 1929 — November 8, 2017

Peacefully on Wed. Nov. 8, 2017 Ethel Wilson (nee Taylor) passed away. Predeceased by her beloved husband Harvey. Loving mother of Gail Argue, the late Lloyd (Lyn), Connie (Roger Moss), Joan (Dale Murphy), Tom (Darlene). Survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great grand-children. Dear sister of Lillian (Ed Hannah), Irene (Eldon Paul), Fay (Ray Robinson), Florence (Wilson Lowe), Norman (Joy), Isobel, George, Margaret (Mike Eaton), Laura (Dwayne Acres). Ethel was born on a farm in Russell, Ontario on December 6, 1929. She worked at the Canadian Bank Note at a time when women did not really hold down jobs outside the home. She continued to work there until her marriage when it was no longer acceptable for a woman to work. She continued her farming life into her marriage with Harvey working tirelessly beside him. She was an avid snowmobiler, quilter, card player and you could find them most weekends heading out in their trailer. She had a strong sense of community and was always there to lend a hand whether it was for the Dunrobin Community Centre, the Anglican Church bazaar or the Women's Institute. She had a passion for her family and would always help out where needed. She was known for her baking and on any Friday night in the summer the cottage crowd would stop in for their weekend supply. Our hearts will forever remember her warm smile, the twinkle in her eyes and her gentle ways. Friends may call at the Carp Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 115 Rivington Street on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 11 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Sunshine Coach in Renfrew.
