Enid Mcneil

September 17, 1939 — March 25, 2018

Enid Ann McNeil

Passed away peacefully on Sunday March 25th, 2018 at the age of 78. Beloved wife of the late Ven. Bruce Crockett. Loving mother of Matthew (Rolly), Andrew, Neil (Alison), Lisa (Tim), Stephen and Sean (Denise). Nana to Veronica, Evan, Krystale, Josh, Ethan, and Emmaline. Sister to Lynn (Ron), David (Nancy), Robert (Wendy), and Jeff (Mona). Predeceased by her sister Noel.

Enid always had a playful and positive outlook on life, and was always able to see the humorous side of things. As a young girl, she cherished her summers with the Martin family between stints at boarding school. She loved sport, including paddling, tennis, golf, and cheerleading, though her lifelong passion was teaching. Graduating from Carleton University, she taught in Cape Dorset, Nunavut and then Lisgar Collegiate, Merivale, Sir Robert Borden, and Bell High Schools. She was a pioneer in the field of English as a Second Language and was recruited to share this as a lecturer at the University of Ottawa.

Life as the wife of clergy led her across the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, including Smith Falls, Buckingham and Nepean. Bruce and Enid continued their guiding roles in retirement, escorting Craig tours around the world. Both were also former executives of the Dinner Dance Club of Ottawa. In addition, Enid was a proud member of the CFUW Diplomatic Hospitality Group hosting events to share Canadian culture with the spouses of international diplomats.

The family would like to thank the staff at Peter D Clarke Long Term Care Centre, who were kind and compassionate in the time Enid spent there. A special thank you to Michelle Parsons who provided Enid with exceptional care and companionship.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Christ Church Bells Corners 3861 Old Richmond Rd., Nepean, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m followed by a reception.
