Elizabeth Ann Wallace

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann Wallace born December 12, 1941, a beloved friend, dedicated caregiver, and fiercely independent spirit, who left us on August 6, 2024, at the age of 82 after a brief battle with cancer.

She is survived by her beloved daughters, Anne-Marie (Frans) and Valerie (Peter), her dear brother Robert (Ena), and her grandchildren – Ryan (Britni), Rachel (Tom), Jakob (Emily), and Noah as well as her extended family and cherished friends. She was predeceased by her Father Donald B Wallace, Mother Eileen Mae, Stepmother Mary and brother Jimmy. Elizabeth's warm spirit and unwavering kindness will be remembered by her family and friends as a beacon of love and strength.

Elizabeth’s journey began in Montreal where she grew up and attended McGill University – graduating with a BSc in Nursing. Soon after graduating and getting married she moved to Alma, where her daughters were born, then on to such other places as Kitimat, BC and Stephenville, Newfoundland. Her next moves took her further afield to the United Kingdom before returning to Arvida and Montreal, where she continued to nurture her children and build a life full of rich experiences.

After settling in Montreal for 20 years, Elizabeth discovered her cherished haven in Sutton, Eastern Townships, where she resided until recently. Her legacy is one of compassion, love, and a deep connection to both her family, friends and the places she called home.

Elizabeth was not only a remarkable caregiver but also a vibrant and active individual who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved walking in the woods, swimming, and practicing yoga, activities that brought her immense peace and happiness. Her love for nature and wellness was evident in every aspect of her life, and she inspired those around her with her dedication to both her profession and her personal passions. In Sutton, she was an active member of the local choir, finding joy and solace in singing with her community.

Driven by a deep spiritual calling, Elizabeth embarked on journeys that took her to Peru, Bali, and the US Midwest, each trip enriching her life and broadening her horizons. Her adventurous spirit and quest for spiritual growth were central to her identity and left an indelible mark on those who knew her.

A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held in Sutton at a later date, where friends and family are invited to share stories and honour the remarkable person she was. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the  Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, World Vision Canada – or other of your choice in Elizabeth's memory.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
