Passed away at the age of 96 on Wednesday evening June 28, 2017, following a day of love and shared memories with her 4 ‘kids' and their partners: Barb, Gord (Cathy), John (Leslie) and Tom (Tam). Betty lived a very full and happy life, beginning with a family she adored - her mother Grace, father John (Jack), sister Marje and brother Doug - followed by 61 years of marriage with the love of her life, Lorne Booth. Betty attended Glebe high school where she enjoyed friendships that lasted all of her life and which she nourished and valued so highly. With husband and best friend Lorne, Betty enjoyed a life of love, fun and laughter with family and friends - raising the family on Westminster Avenue, cottage years at Gauvreau Lake, winters in Florida during their retired years, and 15 years in their last home together at Unitarian House. Betty will be remembered for her warmth, great sense of humour, and as an inspiration to all who marveled at her ability to play bridge and golf despite losing her vision in her late 60s. She never complained, but always looked at life with the glass half full - "I'm very lucky". Over the years she was an active participant in many sports, swimming into her late 80s and taking daily walks well into her 90s. She loved and was so proud of her 7 grandchildren (Katie, Kristy, Kevin, Tim, Graham, Ali and Patrick) who were so good to her. Betty is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and will be greatly missed by many close relatives and friends who loved to spend time in her company. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Unitarian House for 15 years of kind support and the staff at New Orchard Lodge who made Betty's last days so comfortable. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday July 9, 2017 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. with words of remembrance at 3:15 p.m. at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes site in the west end, 3440 Richmond Rd. Ottawa, ON (at Bayshore Drive). Handicap entrance at lower level; Dress: Summer Casual (It's a party!). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's honour to Unitarian House of Ottawa or to the Ottawa Humane Society.
