Eleanor White
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Eleanor Ruth White on Saturday, Nov.27, at Ottawa’s Civic Hospital, West Villa. She had been battling a failing heart with courage and humour.
Born July 24, 1939, in Toronto, Ontario, she was predeceased by her parents, Jeannie Toomath and Henry Earl White, in 1993.
A graduate of Western and Carleton University, she was a successful, independent woman with a legal and sharp mind. After becoming a teacher in Markham, Ontario, she moved to Ottawa in 1971 and followed a long career with the federal government while continuing to care for her dogs, cats and horses. As Elly inspired deep respect and loyal friends, she was not alone when she drew her final breath. As we say good bye to a life well-lived, we will remember her devotion to her four-legged family, and how they kept her young at heart.
In memory, a donation to the Ottawa Humane Society is appreciated.
A special thank you to Kathleen Slevin and Dianna Ashworth for their compassionate support and care of Eleanor in the last year.
