Peacefully at Stillwater Creek Retirement Residence in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late William Henry Stranks. Loving mother of Patricia Williams (Robert), Penny Stranks, and Peter Stranks (Susan Exton-Stranks). Cherished grandmother of Jeffrey St Pierre (Leah), Steven St Pierre (Samantha), Sunny and Sadie Stranks. Beloved G.G. to Dylan, Emma, Olivia, and Grayson. After graduating from the University of New Brunswick, Eileen went to work for the British Admiralty in New York City, where she drafted torpedoes for the Canadian and US navies. After marrying in 1945, she and her husband designed and built a Frank Lloyd Wright style home on the Mountain Road in Aylmer, Quebec, in 1954. In her home studio, she pursued her passion for pottery, and became well known in the Ottawa Potter’s Guild. The three children were raised in that loving home, which was finally sold in 2010. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Salcedo and the nurses and personal support workers of the second floor at Stillwater Creek Retirement Residence. Special thanks to Dr. Tad Pierscianowski for his warm care and compassion, as well as to the CCAC nurses and caregivers. Friends may visit the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd. (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) on Tuesday, August 11, from 1 pm until time of the service in the chapel at 2 pm. Reception to follow. Donations to the Cancer Society, Arthritis Society, or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind would be appreciated.
