At Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital in Ottawa on Friday, September 16, 2022. Mary Isabelle Eileen McDonald, aged 95 years, passed away peacefully after a sudden, brief illness, with family by her side.

Dear sister of Ella MacDonald-Noel (Paul), and beloved aunt of Marie Traynor of Ottawa / Brockville and Gerald MacDonald (Amanda) of Brockville. Also survived by nieces Arlene and Shelley, and nephew Rod, of BC.

Predeceased by her father Roderick R. MacDonald and mother Ella A. MacDonald of Greenfield, Ontario. Also predeceased by siblings Gerald MacDonald of Maitland, Ontario, Lillian Traynor (née MacDonald) of Brockville, Ontario and Bruce MacDonald of Port Coquitlam, BC.

Born and raised in Greenfield, Ontario then Apple Hill, Ontario, Eileen moved to Ottawa in the 1950’s for work, and eventually settled into a career at the City of Ottawa, where she spent 30 years in a variety of clerical data and statistics roles supporting the public health / health inspection division. Eileen was a long-time parishioner at Holy Rosary parish in Ottawa and lived in the Wellington West area most of her life, with the past 10 years as a resident of the Carlingwood area.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Tubman Funeral Home (Westboro), 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa. Funeral mass will be held Friday, September 23 at 11 am at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Parish, 20 Grant St, Ottawa. Interment to follow at St Catherine of Sienna Cemetery in Greenfield, Ontario.

The family welcomes donations in memoriam to two organizations that had a great impact and meant a lot to Eileen, including Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Parish, and The Olde Forge Community Resource Centre (Ottawa).

Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at Queensway Carleton Hospital and Bruyère for their care and compassion in recent weeks, and the nurses, staff and PSW’s at Stillwater Creek retirement residence for their care, patience, and kindness during Eileen’s short stay.
